In the 18th century, the Delisles follow in the steps of the knight Gabriel de Clieu by planting, in the high hills of Saint-Domingue, the island’s first coffee plants.
A new life begins. They build themselves a new home among the hilltops, leaving the plains and having themselves carried up in chairs on the arms or backs of black men, seated in simple chairs…
In Caumale, roasted or green beans would arrive with them by ship…
